Feelz Like Home: An Evening with Ed Kabotie

Last year, Ed Kabotie and Tha’ Yoties came to Mesa Verde Lavender for the first time to record music here at the farm.
Out of their time here came a very special recording of ‘Feelz Like Home,’ a song that quickly became meaningful to all of us.
That song became something special to all of us. It captured a feeling of place, belonging and connection that can be hard to put into words, and somewhere in the process of making music here, Ed became a true friend of the farm.
So this fall, we’re bringing it full circle.
On Sunday, October 4, we’ll gather at our canyon-edge lookout for Feelz Like Home: An Evening with Ed Kabotie, an intimate evening of music, storytelling and connection.
Ed’s work is thoughtful, funny, honest and deeply rooted in place. Through music, stories, art and humor, he speaks to history, identity, injustice, community and the landscapes that shape us.
This evening is especially meaningful to us because it grew directly out of the time Ed and Tha’ Yoties spent creating here at Mesa Verde Lavender.
As our season winds down and the farm begins turning toward winter, we’d love to gather with a small group of people to share this place, this music and this story together.
What to Know
Gates open at 4:30 PM, with the show beginning at 5:00 PM.
The performance will take place outdoors at our canyon-edge lookout. Please bring your own camp chair.
Complimentary non-alcoholic lavender tea blends and water will be served during the evening.
You’re welcome to bring your own picnic snacks and drinks to enjoy at the farm.
Tickets are $30 per person, and attendance is limited to just 30 guests.
Advance tickets are required. Once all 30 spots are filled, the event will be sold out.

Spend an autumn day at the farm stepping into a craft that has been practiced by hand for generations.
This October, we’re welcoming Kaleigh Campbell of Fox Willow Fold in Dolores, Colorado to Mesa Verde Lavender for a rare opportunity to work with real wool-on sheepskin and learn the traditional art of bark tanning.
Kaleigh raises the sheep herself and works with their hides from beginning to end. This workshop is an invitation into that full process - from animal, to hide, to beautifully finished leather - guided by someone deeply connected to the material.
You can join us for the single-day Sheepskin Craft Workshop, or go deeper with the full four-class Bark Tanning Experience, where you’ll tan your own sheepskin from beginning to end and craft something from the finished hide.
Space is intentionally limited so each participant can receive hands-on guidance throughout the process.
THE FULL BARK TANNING EXPERIENCE
$299 per person · Four-class course
This is the heart of the experience.
Over four gatherings, you’ll take a section of sheepskin through its entire transformation — from raw hide to something finished, useful, and entirely your own.
Working alongside Kaleigh over three autumn evenings, you’ll learn the traditional bark-tanning process using mimosa tannin. You’ll prepare the section of hide, tan it, dress and dry the leather, and then return for the final workshop to craft something from the portion of sheepskin you tanned yourself.
Rather than simply working with a finished material, you’ll understand how it came to be.
By the end of the course, you’ll have followed your section of hide through each stage of the process and leave with a 16" x 16" piece of wool-on, bark-tanned sheepskin shaped by your own hands.
For anyone drawn to traditional skills, natural materials, slow craft, or learning where things truly come from, this is a rare opportunity to learn the process firsthand.

THE SHEEPSKIN CRAFT WORKSHOP

If you’d like to experience the beauty of working with sheepskin without taking the full tanning course, join us for the final crafting workshop.
Each participant will receive an approximately 16" x 16" piece of wool-on, bark-tanned sheepskin prepared for the class.
Kaleigh will guide you through finishing both the leather and wool before helping you transform your piece into something beautiful and functional.
Possible projects include:
A cozy sheepskin collar or cowl
A roll-up travel-sized sitting pad
A luxurious pair of sheepskin insoles
You’ll leave with a finished piece and a deeper understanding of the material, the animal it came from, and the traditional process behind it.
No previous leatherworking or tanning experience is needed. All materials are included.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Kaleigh Campbell is the shepherdess and tanner behind Fox Willow Fold in Dolores, Colorado.
Her work begins long before a hide reaches the tanning table. Kaleigh raises sheep herself and works with traditional tanning techniques to transform their hides into beautiful, functional wool-on sheepskins.
Her practice is rooted in using materials thoughtfully, honoring the animal, and preserving skills that were once part of everyday life but are increasingly rare to experience firsthand.
We’re especially excited to bring this kind of hands-on, place-based craft to the farm.
